Exfoliators
Whether they are sugar-, salt-, sand- or acid-based: Exfoliators are used to stimulate the regeneration of skin cells and make the overall skin look fresher. Chemical exfoliants work with certain acids or enzymes. The most commonly used ones are fruit acids (AHA - alpha hydroxy acids). Glycolic and lactic acids are the most popular ones, because they have a effective anti-aging effect. Other popular chemical exfoliants are based on salicylic acid (BHA - beta hydroxy acid). Since salicylic acid, unlike fruit acid, is oil-loving, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, it is perfectly suitable for oily acne prone skin with blackheads.
